LEFT TURN
F22L1CY
RIGHT TURN
Turning the handlebar pivots the jet
pump nozzle which controls the wa-
tercraft direction. Turning the handle-
bar to the right will turn the watercraft
to the right and inversely. The throt-
tle should be applied to turn the wa-
tercraft.
In vert operation, the steering pole
can be moved up and down while driv-
ing to suit various riding position.
NOTE: Moving steering pole up or
down does not change the watercraft
direction.
WARNING
Throttle should be applied and
handlebar turned to change the
direction of the watercraft. Steer-
ing efficiency will differ depending
on load, water conditions and en-
vironmental factors such as the
wind.
Unlike a car, a watercraft needs some
throttle to turn. Practice in a safe area
applying the throttle and turning away
from an imaginary object. This is a
good collision avoidance technique.
WARNING
Directional control is reduced
when the throttle is released and
lost when engine is off.
Keeping your feet spread apart and
leaning in while turning may help to
keep your balance when riding in
vert configuration.
CAUTION: Combustion engine
needs air to operate; consequently
this watercraft cannot be totally wa-
tertight. Maneuvers such as figure
eights etc., that cause the upper
deck to be under water may cause
severe engine problems due to wa-
ter ingestion. Refer to SPECIAL
PROCEDURES and LIMITED WAR-
RANTY contained in this section.
O.T.A.S.
TM
System (Off-Throttle
Assisted Steering)
The O.T.A.S. (Off-Throttle Assisted
Steering) system provides additional
maneuverability in off-throttle situa-
tions. The O.T.A.S. system is elec-
tronically activated and slightly in-
creases engine speed under a pre-pro-
grammed RPM when the driver ini-
tiates a full turn. When handlebar is
brought back to its center position,
the throttle reverts to idle.
